Medical education and training opportunities within the Area L AHEC service region involve:
- Regularly scheduled series of one-hour discussions on various clinical topics for the medical staff of each affiliated AHEC hospital
- Cancer conferences
- Regional education programs which are interdisciplinary in nature
- Opportunities for medical student rotations and training in a wide variety of specialties
The continuing medical education lectures/seminars provide AMA PRA Category 1™ credit towards the Physicians Recognition Award of the American Medical Association. Course transcripts are available to program attendees through MyAHEC. Additionally, the discipline of medicine is responsible for providing programming for area optometrists, and these activities are scheduled upon request. Appropriate educational credit is also provided for the participants at optometry courses.
