The mental health education component of Area L AHEC offers individually tailored, on-site education programs for the area mental health centers, along with their partners, on a monthly basis.  Additionally, guest faculty present discussions for all mental health professionals in the area through regularly scheduled regional programs. Educational opportunities also include programs focusing on services to children and targeting school counselors.  Continuing Education Units are available to mental health professionals through these programs. Many programs meet Category A requirements of the North Carolina Psychology Board.  Substance Abuse, Continuing Medical Education, nursing, and other credits can also be applied.  The AHEC Director of Mental Health Education provides curriculum development and workshop presentations for a wide variety of healthcare providers.
