OUR MISSION The NC AHEC Program provides and supports educational activities and services with a focus on primary care in rural communities and those with less access to resources to recruit, train, and retain the workforce needed to create a healthy North Carolina. Located in Rocky Mount, Area L AHEC is one of nine centers in the NC AHEC Program and serves Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Northampton, and Wilson counties.
Area L AHEC supports preceptors, health science schools, and students in need of AHEC housing.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
The Area L AHEC Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) facilitates learning activities that are evidence-based, needs-driven, and free from bias with the goal to improve the competence, performance, or patient outcomes of participating physicians and their healthcare team members.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Meeting the education and training needs of health providers in the allied health, medicine, mental health, nursing, oral health, pharmacy, and public health professions.
Health Careers
We work to expose and recruit students, particularly from diverse, rural, and under-resourced communities to various health professions by providing educational and enrichment opportunities.
Library Services
The Area L AHEC Library Services Team works to ensure that all current and prospective healthcare professionals in our five-county region have access to evidence-based information to promote the health and well-being of the communities they serve.
Practice Support
The Area L AHEC Practice Support team works 1:1 with practices to help them thrive with value-based care across their entire patient panel.
