Strategic Workforce Development

North Carolina faces a critical shortage of healthcare professionals and personnel. The NC AHEC system, NC Center on the Workforce for Health, and the NC Chamber, have strategically partnered to develop the NC Health Talent Alliance (NC HTA) aimed at addressing pervasive healthcare worker shortages in North Carolina. The initiative focuses on understanding the regional workforce needs and developing targeted programs to fill identified gaps. Area L AHEC is facilitating efforts in our region, working directly with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and community partners to develop targeted workforce solutions and expand opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals.

The NC HTA has released the 2025 NC HTA Annual Survey & Workforce Trends, along with regional reports.
